For the Thanksgiving break we went on a road trip to Lesotho.  We went to the Malealea Lodge and went on an overnight pony trek.  We ate KFC for Thanksgiving.

We decided to head down to Soweto to see where the 1976 Soweto uprisings began.  These events are remember as a public holiday in South Africa, named Youth Day.  Read more about it here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soweto_uprising

It took us just over a week to drive through Botswana to Victoria Falls.  Along the way, we stopped at Khama Rhino Sanctuary and Elephant Sands.  We also visited Chobe National Park for a safari, but we saw more animals outside the park around Kasane than inside the park.

On this trip we racked up over 2300 km to find lions.  We traveled to Twee Rivieren in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.  Then on to Mabuasehube in Botswana.

  The kids’ school, The American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ) put on a big sports tournament.  Ellie played soccer with the kids from Pretoria and Noah played on the high school rugby team.

A look back at 2016.

During the October school break we traveled with new friends and some family from the States to Hazyview, South Africa and then we spent a few days in Kruger National Park.
